Look folks large cheese pizza eat it there and stop thinking... it is the best outside the original location. Perfection drop the mic!
I came to this location for the first time today to pick up a pizza order I had placed through their website. Unfortunately, the order got lost and I had to sit at the restaurant for about 10 minutes while they made me a fresh one. The owner/manager/host came out personally, refunded my money, and gave me a free soda to drink while I waited. I felt very well taken care of and applaud their initiative to make the customer feel appreciated. Everyone makes mistakes so I don't hold it against them, and it was cool to check out their open kitchen and fun decor while I was waiting, which wasn't very long either. The pizza itself was excellent, thin crust with excellent char and a very satisfying crisp, even after I had taken it home.
impulsively came here with my friend jeremy p because we've heard lots of good things about this place. the interior of the restaurant is very beautiful with different seating options we got drinks and boy let me tell u these simple little fountain drinks made such an impression on me and lets just the chick fil a nugget ice put the biggest smile on our faces. we got a classic pepperoni pizza and this was my first time having an oven-kissed char pizza and it was delicioussss the pepperoni on it was so beautiful and even though i've had pepperoni pizza that I would prefer over this, i can definitely say that I recommend! the service was great too and for dessert we were debating on whether we should get the cannoli pie or the tiramisu but after flipping a coin, we decided to get the tiramisu. it was a small little piece that we devoured in probably 60 seconds. it was good but it definitely could have used some more cocoa powder. but great time and I will be back.
I came here late at night, and I've been wanting to try Sally's the few times I was in New Haven--but the line was always down the block. So, when they opened a location in downtown Stamford, so close to me, I couldn't resist. I spoke with the girl at the front, and she was super nice and personable. She said it would be about a 35-minute wait, so I decided to hit the bar and have a drink. The inside was very nice and pretty spacious. I was greeted quickly at the bar and decided to go with an espresso martini--because, well, they're for winners, right? I've definitely had better ones before, and this one didn't quite hit the mark, unfortunately. But my bartender, whose name I forget, was awesome--super chill and laid back. It was his last day, and he was actually from NYC (Queens, I believe). Always love running into fellow New Yorkers outside of NY--it's just one of those things that instantly makes for great conversation. I took my pizza to go, and it was good. I wasn't completely blown away, and if I had to wait outside or endure a super long line, I don't think it would've been worth it. But for what it was, the pizza was solid. I got the Spicy Red pizza, I believe. I'd definitely have it again, especially late at night after a few drinks--it could really hit the spot.
Sally's is still the best pizza in the world (the mozzarella and tomato sauce pie). The pizza is as good as I had the last two times I've been to the New Haven original (since they were sold), and probably 95%-97% as good as Sally's used to be before the original owners sold the place. The tomato sauce is as good as ever. They get the bottom crust right. And the clam pie is actually better under the new ownership, since they now use fresh clams like Pepe's does! Unlike the New Haven location, they take reservations and it was easy to get in at lunch time. Since we were on the way to NYC, it made this location a no-brainer to go to, and we will return. Just wish they would turn down the air conditioning some, since it caused the pizza to get cool more quickly - something that's not a problem at the original! AC is nice, but for a Sally's it should be more restrained.
Another amazing pizza dinner at Sally's! I somehow think this location is tastier than the original in New Haven. Our server, Bo, was excellent. We;ve had him before and he always has a great attitude and fast. One of our go-to spots for casual when we have out-of-state guests. Always a crowd pleaser! Clam pizza!
So this was our second time at Sally's Apizza but our first time at this new Stamford location. We had a reservation thankfully this is a busy place. Kyle was our waiter and such a nice guy. We ordered calamari and their famous wings for an appetizer, not as good as the New Haven location but they were delicious, just didn't fall off the bone like before. Now for the coal fired pizza... the Basil Burrata was amazing, the sauce is perfection and the cheese and oil was perfectly placed. The cheese and sausage were good as well. Great Ambiance you can view the oven anytime and the pizza is some of the best around. I'll be back next time I'm in town. Thank you Sally's
Had a bad experience with one of the name places in New Haven, but I had the urge to try another legendary place. Even if it's not the original spot. This was beyond excellent. I now totally get the fandom. Stopped in an ordered a small pie w bacon, anchovies and hot peppers. They had it done in record time. Excellent service, one of the best pies I've ever had.
I can't believe it took me so long to try this 'ahbeetz'. I think I'd been sucked in that it's Frank Pepe's or bust and also for some reason I can't figure out, the Yelp reviews are poor. Well, we went for my birthday and EVERYONE absolutely loved it, my picky wife, my parents, and my infant. The sauce is the star of the show, so good thing it's delicious. And the char is just right.... The pie shown is bacon and meatball. Underneath was an eggplant pie (special) and they were equally great. Sure it's a pain to park (there's a lot at the end of the block for a buck an hour, though) and even then, that's just downtown Stamford. We will definitely be back. TIP: the 16" is a huge pie and what's pictured. I can't even imagine how big the 'large' is and thankfully the server warned us when we almost got one. Living my whole life in NY, it took me a while to come around to New Haven style pizza when we moved to CT (hey, real NY pizza IS amazing), but there's room for both in my belly ;)
